what is thai Yoga bodywork?by Elin Waterston Thai Yoga Bodywork is an ancient form of therapeutic healing, dating back thousands of years. A deep, full-body treatment that combines assisted yoga poses and stretches, rhythmic motion, compression, touch techniques, massage-like physical pressure along the body’s natural energy pathways (known as “sen” lines), and guided, mindful use of breath. The practice is dynamic as well as deeply relaxing, meditative, and centering - encouraging the body to find a natural balance between energy and calm. Following a session, clients often feel both grounded and energized, peaceful and rejuvenated. During a thai yoga session...During a Thai Yoga session, the practitioner guides the recipient through a series of yoga asanas and movements, while using their hands (palming and thumbing), forearms, elbows, knees, and feet to manipulate and palpate the muscles and soft tissue of the body, using varying degrees of vigor and pressure. The client is moved and stretched in order to shift and unblock energy throughout the body. Usually the focus is on the entire body, but extra attention is given to specific areas that might need a bit more loving kindness.
